The name

We named the studio after that click. Detent is a two-person design studio in Rotterdam working on packaging, products and the identities printed on them.

Most of our clients make physical things: a bottler, record labels, a pedal maker, a film lab, a radio station. Every project gets a physical mock-up in the first week, printed, cut or 3D printed, so feedback is about something you can pick up.

What we make.

Two benches

Most projects end up on both. A pack needs a name, a name needs something to be printed on. Every one starts with a mock-up in week one.

01

Week one

A mock-up in week one

We print, cut or 3D print the first idea, so the first round of feedback is about something you can hold.

Turning since 2019

The D on every box, card and screen started as a block of concrete on our bench. When we need it somewhere new, we scan it again.
